Join Our Hive: Board Members Needed to Protect Our Pollinators

October 24, 2025

The buzzing you hear isn't just from our hives—it's the sound of opportunity calling.

The Seacoast Beekeepers Association of New Hampshire is at a critical juncture. Our mission to educate the public about honeybees and native pollinators has never been more urgent. With bee populations facing unprecedented threats from parasites, pathogens, pesticides, and poor nutrition, we need dedicated leaders who are ready to step up and make a difference.

Why This Matters Now

Every third bite of food we eat depends on pollinators. Yet honeybee colonies continue to face alarming losses each year. Here in the seacoast region, we're not just watching this crisis unfold—we're actively fighting back through education, community engagement, and hands-on support for both new and experienced beekeepers.

But here's the truth: we can't do this alone.

We Need You on Our Board

As president, I've witnessed firsthand the incredible impact our organization has on our community. From teaching aspiring beekeepers about hive management to raising awareness about pollinator-safe practices, we're making real change. But to expand our reach and deepen our impact, we need fresh perspectives, new energy, and committed leaders.

We're looking to fill several board positions, including:

President- The President shall be the chief executive officer of the Association, plan run and perform such other duties as needed.

Vice President – Support leadership initiatives and step in when needed

Secretary – Keep our hive organized and our communications clear

Treasurer – Manage our resources to maximize our impact

Outreach Director – Spread the word about pollinator protection in our community

What You'll Gain

Serving on our board isn't just about giving—it's about growing. You'll:

  • Develop leadership skills in nonprofit management and community organizing
  • Expand your network among passionate beekeepers and environmental advocates
  • Deepen your knowledge about honeybees, native pollinators, and sustainable practices
  • Make tangible impact on pollinator health in our region
  • Be part of something bigger than any single hive or garden

What We're Looking For

You don't need to be an expert beekeeper to serve on our board. We need diverse skills and perspectives:

  • Organizational thinkers who can help us plan and execute
  • Communicators who can share our message compellingly
  • Detail-oriented individuals who keep things running smoothly
  • Creative minds who can imagine new programs and partnerships
  • Passionate advocates who believe in our mission

What matters most is commitment—to our bees, to our community, and to showing up when it counts.

The Time Commitment

Board positions typically require:

  • Monthly board meetings (approximately 2 hours)
  • Monthly membership meetings (open to all members)
  • Additional time for specific role responsibilities (varies by position)
  • Occasional events and outreach opportunities

Most board members invest 5-8 hours per month, though this varies by role and season.

Ready to Answer the Call?

Our pollinators need advocates. Our community needs educators. Our organization needs leaders like you.

If you've been looking for a way to make a meaningful difference in your community, this is it. If you've learned from our programs and want to give back, this is your chance. If you believe that protecting pollinators is essential to our future, we need you on our team.

The hive is stronger when we work together. Will you join us?
